Cali Assaf is a Registered Dietitian from Austin, Texas, passionate about working with small, local farmers and chefs. She believes that culinary and nutrition education should be a bridge of these professions in order to offer the most useful information to clients.
With her Lebanese and Polish cultural backgrounds, she believes that it is imperative that education includes international perspective in order to offer the most respect to all ingredients that are utilized in programing.
Our StoryFor the past 5 years, Cali and lived and worked in Brooklyn, New York where she has managed a large food and nutrition program. Here, she has learned how to bridge the gap between education courses that instill healthy habits while also addressing food access. Cali & the Fig incorporates vital information of the importance of food accessibility and food sovereignty in each aspect of her teachings. Accessing healthy food is the first stop to eating well.
By bridging Cali’s expertise in Food as Medicine, farming, culinary education, and food access, her hands-on educational workshops and individualized programing are essential in the movement toward instilling better human health and better global health.
